About Carrie.
Carrie "Kirada" Rule -- Artist and Creator
Currently married and expecting her first child, Carrie lives in Catlin, Illinois (USA) with her family. She enjoys her art, and has worked on the Lost Genesis story for over 11 years now. She likes to spend time outside, and with animals, as well as with her husband.
She grew up in a large family -- with 5 other brothers and sisters (3 brothers, 2 sisters; all but one sister are half-siblings). She aspires to go to college to become a professional artist, and perhaps get a job as a high school art teacher.
Carrie was born in December 1991 in Tilton, Illinois. She also likes photography, though it's not as deep as her passions for drawing and writing. She decided to go the "comic book" route to combine her love of writing and drawing, and apply her skills in both.
Carrie is currently attending Danville Area Community College (DACC) as a Senior in high school, as well as a full-time DACC college student.
The Story behind "Lost Genesis," by 'Kirada.'
Eleven years ago, "Kirada" was actually a white Siberian Husky, whom I'd named "Harley." At the time, I was writing short stories with tiny little [inexperienced] drawings. Over time, the name changed to "Kira, Kida," and then finally "Kirada" (pronounced kur-ah-duh).
When I began to think about "who my character should be," I began to deepen her story. I created her a family, an ancient history, and eventually people wanted to see more of what I had to offer. With the fanbase steadily increasing, I tried to find ways to best depict what ails in Kirada's lifetime. A novel? A comic book? Simple drawings?
Since I love both writing and drawing, I decided to go both routes -- combining two of my all-time favorites to create one heart-pounding, gut-wrenching story. This comic, thus far, has been in the works for 2 years. Why has it taken so long to produce a single page, you may ask? Perfectionism. I wanted it all to be perfect, so I would change simple core values.
Originally, the comic was about 'Kira' (a rehash of Kirada) and her brother 'Damien.' Being as these were fairly new characters, I decided to bring Kirada back into the world of fiction. But I was doing it wrong -- the original pages were a complete failure. So, in order to attain some knowledge of what to do, I looked up comic creating guides (which were bust). The best help I got came from Kay Fedewa, the artist and creator of The Blackblood Alliance. (Which, yes, I do intend to buy!) Kay has been an amazing source of, not only inspiration, but tremendous support throughout the creation of my comic, and I thank her.
I've also gotten inspiration from other comics, as well, in addition to friends, family, events, pets, and other artists. (Even music.) I hope the comic goes over as well as I hope, if not better.
